Luis and I are heading to our first artist's residency program at the Open Ateliers Zuidoost in Amsterdam for July and August 2013.
We are very excited. We will be getting somewhere to stay and studio space but we need to cover our travel, living and material expenses on our own.
That's where you can help! We have set up an Indiegogo campaign to help us raise funds for the residency expenses. You can view our campaign here. We are offering a series of lino prints created specifically for this campaign as perks for contributors.
Please help us by sharing with your networks. Thank you for your support!

Working on some new ceramic pieces. Here is an experiment testing out some colours and wax resist. Broke in half in the kiln. More exciting developments to come.
I also started a tumblr account. See here.

The Urban Heartbeat book , 'De me barrio a tu barrio - Street art in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean', documenting the regional street art project is out. We got our copies recently from the German Embassy and I must say it's nice to see P&E in print. Copies will be available in the next few weeks at local bookstores.

1962 and 2012 (The 50th Anniversary of Independence Art Exhibition)
I was asked to contribute work to the National Museum's exhibition 1962 and 2012 (The 50th Anniversary of Independence Art Exhibition) curated by Kywnn Johnson. I was happy to be considered - especially as I was the youngest artist included in the exhibition. A selection from my Here and There series is on show.

P&E Zine
Ongoing project was created along with my partner Luis Vasquez La Roche (Emigrante). The basis is to take some of our personal drawings and paste them in various spaces across the country (Trinidad). Neither Here Nor There, Vol. 1
During June and July I worked on a small book made of recycled paper and bound by myself. I have been interested in bookmaking for some time now. I drew in this book with the intention that information from the recycled pages from the various humdrum's of my life (bank statements, discarded prints, practice sheets from my Spanish class) would direct its form. The book contains a series of map like elements. I am mapping out spaces and experiences, real and imagined.
I have made copies of the original and am giving away the zines. It's a limited edition of 30. If you live in Trinidad and Tobago please email me to get your free copy, alicia@aliciamilne.com
If you live outside of Trinidad and Tobago you can order a copy through my storenvy account. The zine is free but a small fee for shipping is required.

Formations - August Update
![]() |
| Ceramic and Basil experiment, August 2011 |
I haven't updated in a while. Just wanted to share these photos, albeit low quality phone pics. I am working on several things, these ceramic heads being one of them. I am very interested in childhood and formative years. I am interested in what children do with the information that is handed to them and that which is observed. What stays inside the box and concretizes, what triggers questions, what is absorbed and manifests as something else.

Trinidad and Tobago Love for Hyperallergic
For the past three months Hyperallergic has been inviting it's readers to post to them any form of mail art. Those submissions received so far have been included in an exhibition entitled Presents: Three Months of Mail Art for Hyperallergic HQ at Northside open studios, from the 17th -29th June 2011 in Brooklyn, New York.
According to Hyperallergic's website, the show "will include mail art in the form of sculpture, installation, video and works on paper. The show’s catalogue will be in the form of a ‘zine."
"Co-curated by Kate Wadkins and Hrag Vartanian, Presents will draw on the 100+ mail art works that have been sent to Hyperallergic since our initial request for submissions to our Mail Art Bulletin in March 2011. The show will include everything from practical jokes to prayer/envelope flags. They represent a range of materials and subject matter all emphasizing the tangible communication from one individual to another."
My submission was a quick love note, playfully expressing some 'Tobago Love' .... along with a matching minicard holder and T&T flag envelope.
